The largest private boat in the world spends the summer in Cádiz

The largest private boat in the world spends the summer in Cádiz.  The ‘Azzam’ is owned by the head of state of the United Arab Emirates, Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The ship is considered the largest private yacht in the world, superior in length to any other in its range – 180 meters in length and 20.8 meters in the beam – and is owned by Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates United and current Emir of Abu Dhabi, a member of the royal family that welcomes King Emeritus Juan Carlos I these days after his departure from Spain.

Known as the king of the seas since he dethroned the 164-meter long yacht Eclipse, owned by Russian millionaire Roman Abramovich, the Azzam is a veritable floating palace. It has, as always when it comes to Asian luxury, an unlimited budget and whimsical extravagances of its owners, with a helipad, discotheques, cinema, anti-missile system, and recreation rooms of more than 500 square meters. It was built in 2013 – in a work that lasted for three years – by the German shipyards, Lürssen and its price exceeded 600 million euros. Although its construction was commissioned by Sheikh Bin Zayed, it is speculated that its commercial exploitation may be carried out by an external company dedicated to the rental of luxury boats, so there is little hope of seeing the Sheikh walk around the streets of Cádiz and its coastal surroundings.
