The Andalusian town of Sanlúcar de Barrameda,in the northwest of Cádiz, will take over from Murcia to be the Spanish Capital of Gastronomy 2022. The greatest gastronomic title given in Spain. Where is it?

It is located in a privileged position. On the left bank of the mouth of the Guadalquivir River and in front of the Doñana National Park. Manzanilla

But we must not forget that Sanlúcar is much, much more than eating and drinking. This corner of Cádiz is also living history in the form of a monumental heritage that surprises at every turn. Starting with its castle in Santiago, ordered to be built by Enrique Pérez de Guzmán, II Duke of Medina Sidonia, in the 15th century. From its tower you can see the city of Sanlúcar at the foot and the mouth of the Guadalquivir to the Atlantic. How to get there

Sanlucar de barrameda is about 100 kilometers by road from Seville, which is around an hour and a half.

It is 25 kilometers from Jerez de la Frontera. That’s a 30 minute drive. 

From Cadiz, it only takes a 40 minutes to get there by car.  Only 48 kilometers.

Moreover, from El puerto de Santa María, it takes only 20 minutes to get there by car. The distance is only 23 kilometers.

Furthermore, if you travel by plane, you can get to the airports of these cities. And once there, rent a car to get to Sanlucar. Besides, you can also come through the Gibraltar airport, which is about 130 kilometers.

By bus:

From Seville you can also go to Sanlúcar de Barrameda by taking the Los Amarillos bus line (belonging to Grupo Samar) from the Prado San Sebastián bus station.

If, on the other hand, you want to go from Jerez de la Frontera, you must take the bus from the “Linesur” bus company at the Jerez bus station.
